During springtime, many roadsides transform into kilometers of flower ribbons. Every week, every season and every year, the roadside landscape changes and new flowers emerge. Roadside Flora gives a new look at these roadside flowers.
In the Netherlands, the number of wild flowers and plants declined rapidly, but thanks to a new mowing policy, the wild flowers are slowly finding their way back to the verges of busy roads. These places don't seem ideal for flowers with speeding cars, high co2 emissions and pollution from rubber, petrol and waste. But still the flowers flourish here.
By growing in these places, the flowers show their strength and resilience. Isolating the flowers from the road puts the focus solely on the flowers, allowing them to be seen in a new way - free from the distractions of their surroundings.
